Are we a good match?
If you are someone who values documenting their growing family and life’s small moments, then we just might be! If you appreciate authentic emotion and unposed storytelling and desire nostalgic, genuine, happy, and thoughtful photos of your life as opposed to traditional portraits then I’d say we’re a match made in heaven!
How do I book a session?
Great! Just contact me here and we’ll get the ball rolling! Your session will be reserved with a signed contract and a $100 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking. Your balance will be due one week before your session.
When and how will I receive my photos?
All of your photos will be delivered in a hi-resolution online gallery. It is personalized, password protected, and makes sharing with friends and family easier than ever! You can expect an email with a link to your gallery 2-3 weeks after your session.
What should we wear?
It’s always tricky trying to piece outfits together. I always lean towards coordinating as opposed to matching. Try to avoid loud patterns and anything with logos. Most importantly, wear something that is true to your personalities and that you are comfortable in.
Where and when should we schedule the session?
I shoot on-location using only natural light, therefore the best time of day is near the “golden hours” of sunrise and sunset. We will schedule your session for either an early morning or late afternoon. I have a few go-to spots but really love shooting in and around clients’ homes or spots that are meaningful to them so please feel free to let me know any ideas you have for your session.
What if my little one is shy or grumpy?
Most kids aren’t fond of the idea of dressing up and awkwardly smiling for a stranger to take photos of them for an hour, and who can blame them?! If your little one is too shy to leave your arms the entire shoot, if they need some extra time to get comfortable, if they need to hold something familiar, that is MORE THAN OKAY! Let’s just capture them as they are: the sensitive, snuggly sweet one who needs mom’s cuddles or won’t let go of dad’s hand. We will let it play out and try subtle things to get a smile or laugh. Sometimes a little playtime and peek-a-boo helps; and if not, we will capture an honest, authentic moment where your little one felt safe, comforted, and loved.
My family isn’t “fun, interesting, etc. enough “ to get anything good for a Day in the Life session.
I hear this a lot, and it’s absolutely not true! Day in the Life shoots aren’t about doing awesome stuff for cool photos. They are about your family’s authentic story and that by itself is interesting, fun, and beautiful! Years from now you will treasure the photo of your kids fingerpainting, playing in the sandbox outside, reading books with dad, having pancakes for breakfast as a family, and snuggling with you during their bedtime routine. Day in the Life sessions aim to freeze these nostalgic moments in an informal and honest way; and I hope you will cherish them forever.
